TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME….

Doo do do do do dooooo…. We like that song (we only know the first line!) and they actually sing it at every baseball game in the middle of the seventh inning. The music suddenly starts, everyone jumps to their feet and the whole crowd sings along like a national anthem! Luckily, we were at the game with an American who could explain what everyone was doing and was very good at answering our million questions!

“What’s happening?”

“Who’s that?”

“Why’s he doing that?”

“Who’s winning?”

“Why are they cheering?”

“Why is there a swimming pool over there?!”

Yep, the stadium has a swimming pool that VIPs can sit in to watch the games. We went in April when it was still “cold” so no one was in the swimming pool and the roof was open but the stadium is amazing.

It has giant “windows” which you can see either side of the screen in the photo, they can open and close the windows to allow any breeze to flow through. It also has a retractable roof that they close in the summer so the air con can cool it to a bearable temperature! There was a very funny lemonade seller who had a brilliant bellowing, growling, angry voice and kept calling out “LEMONADE, LEMONADE, LIKE GRANDMA MADE….YUMMY YUMMY IN MY TUMMY”, he made us laugh a lot!

The whole place was very clean and the atmosphere was very light hearted and fun. To me, as a non-sports lover, even though we don’t understand all of the game, there was plenty to keep us entertained and we would happily go back once the weather cools down, it was a fun night out!
