BREAKFAST TREAT

Last weekend we had breakfast at St Francis. The restaurant has won awards for it’s bread and it makes it’s own cornbread…this is our kind of place! Inside the restaurant it has an airy feel and lovely large windows which lead out onto a big covered patio which I’m sure would be lovely to sit on once it cools down (109°F today!).

We’ve been here twice and both times we’ve ordered the same thing…..

Iron skillet pancake – olive oil, dark chocolate, caramel apples, maple syrup and creme fraiche.

And….

Fried egg sandwich – mozzarella,  peppers, bacon and arugula with chips (for breakfast!)

Do you see why?! Oh so yummy! This time we shared both and had the perfect balance of sweet and savoury for breakfast. The sandwich is fresh with the arugula and peppers and oozes egg yolk, not at all greasy. The pancake is so sweet and delicious, it’s like a dessert, it really is a treat for breakfast!

The regular coffee also came in glass cups…extra points for swishness!

The menu is full of lovely things so next time we WILL have to try something else, the cinnamon rolls look particularly good….that’s a good excuse to keep going back!
