…When the grass is jewelled and the silk inside a chestnut shell, jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled, all these things I love so well….
Normally the leaves changing colour on the trees, the chilly wind and in school days singing the Autumn Days hymn marks the start of autumn….
Cacti don’t have leaves, there’s no cool breeze here but I do still sing the song every time I think of the work Autumn and….the Pumpkin Spice Lattes have arrived in Starbucks (and the pumpkin spice muffins, bread and scones!) so “Fall” has officially started!
It would appear Autumn is a massive deal here, a season that we seem to skip in the UK (I saw Christmas cards already in the shops on our trip home!) Here we have Halloween and Thanksgiving to enjoy before the run up to Christmas starts. And if the amount of decorations and food in the supermarkets are anything to go by we’re going to celebrate big!
“Pumpkin Spice” is the star of the show at the moment. It’s an unusual one to us as it’s not a taste we’ve grown up with and the only example I can think of in the UK would be Starbucks lattes and scented candles. I believe it’s supposed to taste like the spices you would put into a pumpkin pie, something we’ve never actually tried. I have tried Starbucks “PSL” in the past and I’m really not keen, I find it tastes really soapy?! The other half of our household on the other hand is partial to the occasional latte and was excited when his phone announced their arrival in Starbucks about a week ago! I’m not sure he’ll be so keen on the HUGE array of other pumpkin spice products available? We’ve seen porridge, cereal, pop tarts, coffee creamer, M&Ms, granola, yoghurt, tea and candles even beer, marshmallows and air freshener!
It is a popular flavour, I feel like we might be missing out? Maybe we’ll have to be brave and give it a whirl?!
