We’ve always been intrigued by the brightly coloured bags of “candy” in the supermarkets at Halloween. We decided to try the brightest, shiniest one on the shelf….Candy Corn!
It’s popular, apparently 9000 tonnes are sold every year. It comes in lots of different forms, I even think I’ve seen an Easter and Christmas version in different colours. This one was a mix of two types of candy corn which are coloured to look like corn kernels and some mini pumpkins, it was the Autumn mix. I wonder why it’s called Autumn mix and not Fall mix?!
I thought they would be hard boiled sweets….it’s actually a soft but not gummy texture, like a firmer Dolly Mixture? Difficult to describe!
I was expecting it to taste like popcorn, Chris was expecting sherbet. We were both wrong, it has a very sweet taste, like a flavoured version of the Milk Bottle sweets you used to get as a child.
After about 6 sweets we were both done and the packet sat untouched in the cupboard for a week. Not a hit in our household but at least now every time we pass the rows of sweets we know that we’re not missing out!
