Since we moved to Arizona!  With all of our worldly possessions arriving safely in our four suitcases and an upgrade to Club World at the airport, it was a good start to a year that has continued to get better and better.

We had a trip to the Grand Canyon in April and I celebrated my birthday in Las Vegas. We went to a baseball game and moved into our first apartment. I had a quick trip to Florida to see my mum and dad and Chris bought a car!

In May we started to settle into our new life with trips to Enchanted Island, Fountain Hills, Prescott and Jerome. We went to our first drive-in movie and we sampled quite a few of the local restaurants this month too!

In June there were trips to Carefree, McDowell- Stillman Railway park and an amazingly fun trip to Disneyland, California.

We celebrated 4th July and finally got a sofa! We had a lovely weekend trip to Newport Beach and managed to make it rain so much in California that the road collapsed on our way home and we had to stay an extra night!

We went back to California in August, this time much further north and visited Lake Tahoe, Mammoth, Yosemite, Napa, Mendocino and San Francisco on a big and very twisty road trip.

In September we nipped home for our lovely friends’ wedding and enjoyed seeing all our family and friends, even though it was freezing! Then we came back to the glorious sunshine, hired a U-Haul and moved into our awesome new house. We also took a trip to the zoo.

October was busy! We had our wedding anniversary and Chris’ birthday to celebrate. We also bought our BBQ and Chris started perfecting his pizza and steak recipes. We had a day trip to Sedona, ate tacos at the Taco Festival and went to my first American football game. We had an amazing holiday in Kauai, oh, and I passed my driving test too!

Chris went to his first NASCAR race in November. We started to prepare for Christmas, went to a pizza festival and enjoyed being outdoors again in the cooler weather. We celebrated Thanksgiving in San Diego and this time didn’t get stuck on the drive home!

We made sure to visit as many Christmas events, lights and parades in December as we could. We had a lovely, if different Christmas, opening presents, spending time with friends and speaking to family on Skype.

We relaxed into January before my parents came for a visit and Chris had to fly to the UK for a few days. We had our second, this time snow covered trip to the Grand Canyon.

February was mainly spent preparing for the baby’s arrival, we did lots of classes and events. We had our surprise baby shower and did quite a lot of cooking and baking.

The last month, March, has flown by as baby is due to arrive soon and we are getting ready for our next even bigger adventure to start!

Reading it all back, we’ve had a very busy year and are definitely making the most out of our time here. We’ve enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. Missing family, friends and home comforts can mean there’s ups and downs but we feel like we’ve really embraced the change and the opportunities that this move has given us and we’re super duper excited to see what the next year brings!

Time to celebrate with some cake…banana and chocolate chip of course!

  5. What a brilliant year you’ve had and some really great photos and memories to show for it. I love the Grand Canyon photos. I went there once when it was really hot, so it was strange to see you there in hats and all wrapped up.
    Congrats on your latest blessing.
